1) The Financial Conduct Authority
The FCA is the independent watchdog that regulates insurance services, it requires us to give you this document. Use this information to decide if our services are right for you.
Goldcrest Insurance Services Limited of 35a High Street, Barnet, Hertfordshire EN5 5UW is authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA). We are permitted to arrange, advise on, and deal as an agent of insurers and assist in claims handling with respect to non-investment insurance policies. You can check the details on the FCA’s register by visiting the FCA website or by contacting the FCA on 0845 606 1234.
2) Whose products do we offer
We offer products from a wide range of insurers for private and commercial vehicle, motor cycle, property, commercial property, travel and business insurance. You may ask for a list of the insurers we deal with. We offer products from a single provider for Motorists Legal Assistance and Vehicle Breakdown Insurance.
3) Which service we will provide you with
After assessing your demands and needs we will make recommendations for motor, property, motor cycle and commercial vehicle insurance. You will not receive advice on commercial, travel and Motorists Legal Assistance products. We may ask you some questions to narrow down the selection of products we provide details on. You will then need to make your own choice on how you wish to proceed.
4) The information upon which your insurance is accepted
Your insurance contract is based on the information provided by you at the time of quotation. You must check your Proposal Form/Statement of Fact to ensure that all answers are accurate and correct, and that any information that is incorrect or omitted is notified to us without delay. Failure to do so may affect your insurers’ decision to accept and pay a valid claim. This applies equally when renewing a policy, and if your circumstances have changed you must notify us immediately. If in doubt, you should contact us. We remind you of your duty not to misrepresent and to answer questions honestly.
It is our intention to provide a high level of service at all times. However, if you have reason to make a complaint about our service you should contact the Branch Manager at the address shown on this document. If you remain dissatisfied, you should write, for the attention of the Managing director at the branch address. You may be entitled to refer the matter subsequently to the Financial Ombudsman Service. Further information is available at www.financial-ombudsman.org.uk
We reserve the right to retain insurance certificates at our office until all payments due under the policy are made and any cheques have cleared through our bank account. This includes instances where we have agreed the payment of premiums by installments. We will also retain the certificate of insurance if any documentation required in support of your application for insurance is outstanding. By accepting these terms of business you agree that delivery of any certificates to Herald Insurance Services Limited will constitute delivery to yourself in accordance with statute law.
7) What will you have to pay for our services?
In certain circumstances we may charge a policy production fee. Any fee will be advised and agreed prior to the inception of cover. Payments by our installment schemes are due strictly at one-month intervals from the inception/renewal date of the policy. When paying by debit/credit card, we will debit the card account from the details supplied. Should these details or the circumstances change, you must notify us immediately. Payment default will result in cancellation of the policy without refund. When you take out a policy with us, by accepting the premium you agree to pay the following scale of charges. In this respect a renewal is considered to be the same as a new policy, although it may be with the same insurer. These charges are in addition to any made by the insurer themselves. Charges will be notified to you prior to the commencement of the policy.
Broker Installment Charge – 15% (Minimum £20.00) details on application
Broker Mid-Term Adjustment Charge – 30% of the additional premium charged by the insurer subject to a minimum charge of £35.00
Membership of Motorists Legal Assistance Scheme – £30.00
Charge for dishonoured cheques – £25.00
Return Premiums (Usually arising if a risk is reduced or cancelled).
Return Premiums will be held to credit against future renewals or new policies unless you request otherwise. On return premiums we repay our commission to the insurer and this will be deducted from the final amount refunded to you. If a policy is cancelled we will, if required, refund any return premiums after deduction of commission and charge. All cancellations will be subject to a £30.00 charge. Where a claim is outstanding, or results in payment by your insurers without recovery, no refund will be allowed upon cancellation and the full premium remains payable.
8). How to Cancel
You may have a statutory right to cancel this policy within a short period. Please refer to your policy summary or policy document for further details. If you cancel on this basis you will receive a pro-rata refund of premium from the insurer. We will make a minimum of charge of £100.00 to cover our own administration costs in respect of arranging and cancelling the insurance.
If you wish to cancel outside the statutory period you may not receive a pro-rata return of premium. Our normal cancellation charges and deductions will apply.
9) How to Claim
Please refer to your policy summary or your policy document if you need to notify a claim. You should contact the insurer direct as soon as possible using the contact details provided. On motor claims, please contact our Claim Line on 0845 293 0386
10) Client Money and how we handle it
Your money will be held in an account separate from our own in an approved UK Bank. We will retain any interest earned on your money. We will hold your money as an agent of the insurer, which means that the insurer is deemed to have received your money as soon as we receive it. Occasionally, we may transfer your money to another person, such as another broker or settlement agent, for the purpose of effecting a transaction on your behalf through that party.
11) Are we covered by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS)?
We are covered by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme. You may be entitled to compensation from the scheme if we cannot meet our obligations. This depends on the type of business and the circumstances of the claim. Insurance advising and arranging is covered for 100% of the first £2,000 and 90% of the remainder of the claim, without any upper limit. For compulsory classes of insurance, insurance advising and arranging is covered for 100% of the claim without any upper limit. 12) Data Protection
The personal details you give us are held on a computer system. They will not be made available to anyone except the insurer that you are entering into a contract with. In the case of a dispute, in order to comply with the FCA code, information may be available to them. If required by a Court of Law, we will be bound to provide information to them. We might also wish to use this information to be able to provide you with other products or services we can arrange.
Insurers pass information to the Claims and Underwriting Exchange register run by IDS Ltd and the Motor Insurance Anti-Fraud & Theft register run by the Association of British Insurers. The aim of this database is to help check the information provided and to prevent fraudulent claims. It also helps detect people who break the law by not taking out compulsory insurance.
To make sure you get the best offer from Insurers, now or at any time and to protect their customers from fraud and to verify your identity, they may use publicly held data which they obtain from a variety of sources, including a credit reference agency and other organisations.
As well as these searches insurance companies may use a credit check to ascertain the most appropriate payment options for you. These credit checks will also appear on your credit report whether or not your applications proceed. By continuing you agree to these uses of your information.

2. Residency Requirement
The products and services described in this site are only available to UK residents insuring private vehicles within Great Britain (excluding Northern Ireland but including Isle of Man and the Channel Islands).
By asking for a quotation, you confirm that you and any additional drivers on your policy are UK residents and have been so for a period of more than 3 years and that you will immediately notify us if you or any additional drivers cease to be a permanent UK resident.
3. Medical Conditions
We are unable to insure any drive who has received medical advice recommending that they do not drive. Certain other medical conditions may require amended terms and conditions.
4. Telephone Calls
We may record or monitor our telephone calls with you for training purposes and to improve the service we provide to you.
5. Website Content
We have taken every reasonable step to ensure the information contained in this website is accurate and up to date. However, we can accept no liability for any errors or omissions. We reserve the right to add, amend or delete information from this site at any time.
